Maddie Woodbridge is a Brisbane based artist who recently completed an Art Therapist Diploma at Health and Harmony College (2024). She completed her Diploma of Visual Art at TAFE Queensland in 2018 and her Bachelor of Visual Art in 2021. Maddie has participated in numerous group shows and exhibitions across Brisbane and received Youth 2nd prize in the Sandgate Easter Art Show in 2016 and the People’s Choice Award at Incubator 2018. Her artwork exists in local private collections.
Growing up in a creative household, Maddie dreamed of being an artist. In primary school she developed an interest in patterns and illusions, eventually learning how to draw them. In high school she began taking art more seriously, experimenting with different mediums, techniques, and concepts. Since graduating, Maddie has been pursuing her artistic learning through university studies.
Maddie’s artworks explore a range of ideas and concepts through a variety of mediums including sculpture, installation, digital, painting, drawing, photography, and printmaking. Her artwork is often abstract and emphasises colour, shape, space, line, balance, and pattern. She works methodically developing her ideas in mind maps and carefully selects her materials. Maddie’s artworks are direct expressions of her thoughts and ideas and art is her way of communicating them. As she explores and experiments, Maddie aims to extend art beyond the limits, creating artworks that can be experienced and will live on in her audience’s memories.
